Default Exempt Holiday collector items from loot scaling

It may be a bit late to start this thread, but I hope Anet takes a look.

This will the first Holiday season with loot-scaling in effect. Currently, collector drops like Charr carvings and Ornate Grawl Necklaces are subject to loot scaling. That is, even if you leave all hero/henchies at home, you stand no better chance of getting these drops.

One of the fun things to do is to create solo builds that allow you to gather these items quickly in the various places they drop to exchange them for the holiday goodies.

I would really like to see these items excluded from scaling for the duration of the events. Of course, exempting them permanently would be fine, too.

Note that I am not asking for loot scaling to be reversed, and I don't really want to reopen that old debate here. I would just like Holiday collector items excluded for the events. Who's with me?

It would be nice to stock up on as many of the holiday items as you can while they're here.

It's quite unlikely that ANet would take the effort of defining separate scaling rules for a bunch of stuff whose only common property is that some festival event collector may accept it at some point. I would like to see either that all collectable items would be exempt from loot scaling because their monetary value is in any case lower than the typical drop of the respective area, or that the ratio of collectables to consumables would be scaled accordingly. I happen to remember that during the Wintersday '05 event one gargoyle skull bought you a spiked eggnog but you needed 2 skulls during the '06 event to get one spiked eggnog. I really wouldn't mind if ANet dropped the requisite back to just one skull if the loot scaling stays in place.

Those are very good alternatives:
Alt 1) Exempt ALL collector items from scaling.
- or -
Alt 2) Reduce # of collector items required for holiday items.

I would take either of those.

However, one problem with Alternative number 1 is that items like Destroyer Cores would become exempt. This would drive the cost down on these significantly. That's fine by me, but should be recognized.

Your 2nd alternative proposal would have the same impact as my proposal, but there would be no incentive to solo. That's fine by me, too.

Whatever's easier!

I'd be happy to see that happen... but unfortunately, so would the bot runners who farm minotaur horns / warden horns etc. If loot scaling is an anti-bot measure I can't see them ever excluding white collector items from it.

/signed for excluding holiday items. That would be good...

.. only problem is, if they're collector items that existed from the word go, then they must go to a permanent collector NPC somewhere, which brings us back to why Alt 1 will probably never happen.

/unsigned No I disagree with this as it keeps the flow of those holiday items at a minimum and will also increase the value of them for sale later on after the events are over. If everything is so easy to obtain like it was before the loot scale system then everyone has everything and there is nothing to buy or worth buying. Besides over the year I have collected 100's of those holiday collectable items so I'm all set for the holiday anyways.

They're holiday items, they're for fun. Oh noez, you can't farm, get loads of the festival items and then sell for loads of money after the event is over. Whatever shall you doez?

Wouldn't mind either of hallomik's options

What about the ppl who endlessly farmed thousands of the collectors stuff so they could sell em on holiday events for 100-300 each?

/signed hopefuly but doubtful

well with loot-scaling and holloween the farmers stay richer, as in clever 55
monks that kept orr emblems, which if last year is anything to go buy they'll make a nice bit.

whiel the casual gamer will have probs with getting a nice few, i tihnk collector items should be exempt, only collectors items form haloween colectors tho.
